white and black is the basic of all colours, also representable as the basic of life. black is often refered as the negative, the bad, the evil and white as the vice versa which is related to purity and good. but from the yin yang logo, one might realise that you cannot possess just one of the 2 colour, or in another word, you cannot just be too good or just too bad. if the black were really meant to be evil, you can see from the portion where black occupies a larger portion of the area, white gradually takes over black and slowly dominate the area. if translated to the language of life, wouldn't that simply convey that the more notorious you get, eventually the ethic in you will slowly be relished? definitely that is just a theory one can make out from interperting the logo, and it up to you the interpreter to analyse base on your character, mindset, and the path of life you've walk through. nevertheless, the theory that i just mentioned might just prove that we need a equilibrium in life, to work to play, to smile to cry, to run to sleep, to live and to die. to work to smile to run to live have always been deemed as the right thing to do for most of us, largely because they are productive and is recognised by our society as "useful" and are acknowledged as the right thing to do. However, without balancing it with play, cry, sleep and death, the system will not be in equilibrium and will eventually break down. It is easy to say, but you will be amazed on how difficult some takes to attain. Since white has been recognised as what the society wants, we have always work toward the white side, doing more than what we could just to show others that we are one step better than the other, who are just like anyone else striving for more of the white end. as we strive for the white for most our time, we eventually get used to doing the white thing, and it just seems like a part of our everyday life, a big part. we neglect the black part, the other side of our equilibrium, a just as important other side. Not forgetting its a long road, just like a marathon, it is impossible to miss out the black end. when one day you got the taste of a black end, you might feel uneasy, because its not the routine of your life, its not your habit to drink and party and have fun, its just not like you, you know it cheer up your heart from all the loads, but you just have this uneasy feeling because you do not think that this is the right thing to do. it feels like you're wasting your time your life on all these unproductive event.

Everyone has their own equilibrium point, maybe if your capacity is larger, you enjoy a bigger part of black and so, you will also have to produce a larger portion of white to balance out your life. However, regardless of how white or black you are, you just have to be equally black or white.

First Impression

Something sets me thinking for the past few days. The idea of first impression and knowing of a person. As always said, first impression counts, although just like anyone, my first instinct to a new person would be observing him which leaves me with a first impression but i would safely say i'm not a fan of first impressionist. This maybe due to knowing myself, a person you can never judge from the look cause its ever changing. So i understand that a person can be immensely different as the one you thought you knew when you first saw him. At the first look one can be attracted be the other from his look, his actions, his hygiene, his etiquette, his behaviour etc and this detail can also change a person impression to dislike. But the way i work is to try to know the person inside him and not the one everyone sees. I'll try to observe the details of him, his conversation topic to know more about the real him. Outer looks are often deceiving because it is a work of the person's environment, education, work, but the inner side can never bluff its way through and it's best tested by the way you act or behave when you though nobody is around. Kind, Soft-hearted, hot-tempered are just some of the real you to name. If its good inside, it will always be, but if its bad inside it can never turn good. I guess i'm living in another world where first impression is second compared to expressing with your real heart.

That is the benefit of long title as it more or less brings out the main point of what one have to say. Does fear ever occur to you when people beside you, your friends and family because of age or illness? For the juveniles it might not have been something you've been through, but for the elderlies, i've seen many of such. When you start to grow old, you slowly see your hair turns white, your skin crumpled up, your speed slow down, your abilities weren't as smooth as before, the idea of death in near might just occur to you. Death is definitely inevitable, but understanding it helps you live your life better as understand from "Tuesday with Morrie". But as death is unpredictable, it gives uncertainties, and thats the main fear, not death itself. When you see your close friends pass away because of health problems at maybe an age of 70 its naturally that you a friend of the similar age fear that you'll encounter similar problems. Because we cannot control it, we cannot predict it, it creates a kind of anxiety in us just like the fear for 2012, the only difference is the fear of the whole Earth dying and not an individual. Back to the topic, because we are not living in the circumstances, we will or will be difficult for us to understand the kind of feeling, that kind of mindset the person is having at the moment. We can learn alot, study as much as you want, know as much as possible, but somethings sometimes somewhere, we will just have to been through it to understand it. We human are strongly affected actually totally affected by what you've been through, saw and feel so because of the highly varied life each individual been through, it forms a different character, mindset of a person and this whole experince that one has ever been through will decide his decision his desire and his deed. So only going through the different parts of life and experiencing more will only then you can more accurately decide for yourself and others, it is something which you can learn nothing from the books, and i guess that's the take away of lives.

After sleeping for so long, it's is time to wake up. My thoughts are always triggered by things around me, the people i see and meet, incident of a day etc. But since holiday started, my mind stopped. Things that happens around me is too menial to trigger my thoughts, or should i say i have already thought about it. However there is this one thin that comes in millions and billions of different types and you can never understand all of them, this is human. People come in all kinds, black, white, hispanic, asian etc from the outside, cunning, smart, evil etc from the inside. Since long ago we have tried to group people into groups, astrology stars, zodiac are just some to name. Definitely we can see some similarities in these few groups of people, however, in many aspects each and everyone is still different. Being able to understand as many types of people as possible will always put us on advantage because human interaction happens everywhere and anytime so understanding the one you are talking to can sometimes help you achieve your objectives easier. Personally, i enjoy studying people, how they react to certain circumstances, how they would speak how they would behave themselves. This can sometimes help in forseeing what people around you will do next step. But the mistake sometimes can be reading too deep into it and label the wrong person with the wrong behaviour, which is prejudgment and is wrong. I wish to further write more but i'm too tired, i shall continue again because human is simly complicated, was that an oxymoron?

On the way back home, i saw one construction worker, alone by himself with a big bottle of pepsi infront of him. Many foreign construction workers like to spend their free time sitting around pavements and on the fields, it's a common sight locally. Therefore no doubt that guy was taking a break after his work day enjoying the moon bath with a pepsi. Breaks are usually the best time for people to do their favourite interest, hobbies and stuffs like shopping, psp, wii, all sorts of different time-killers. but to that man, a pepsi is just enough for him because mayb back at his hometown a bottle of soft drink was a luxury that not everyone can afford. But to us, pepsi is just one of the drink u ordered in the food centres to go with your food, it never will be anything that you will thought of as luxury moments. Sad about we urban people, we are richer than those kampong-ers, more knowledgeable than them, more sophisticated and more demanding too.We can never be easily satisfied by the simple small things in our life, because we simply own toooooo much. and the more we own, the more and better we demand for. It is never ending because this is the human nature that producer and companies target to sell their products to R&D newer, fancier iphones, gadgets to temporary satisfies the demands, and with such phenomenon, the cycle just goes on and on never endingly. definitely it is impossible to tell one of the city residents to kick off this human nature because we grow in this environment and this is who we are. Nevertheless, the one thing that we can do is really to appreciate every things, every smallest events that is around up each day, that is happening around us. If i were still a student, today would be a horrible day. The whole day will seems so slow, nothing to do just awaiting for the scary tmr.I hate the eve of school reopening, it is a scary feeling. The night will be a sleepless one, no matter how tired or how u twist and turn around, you just cannot get into sleep. The next morning is just sucky, the moment you woke up the sky is unusually dark, the air is often moist and with a bit of warmth. It will be that usual smell, the smell that only at that time of day you can smell. The sound of cricket will still be pestering, joined by other insects it just made the whole start of school detestable!When reaching near school, my heart would be pumping so fast so loud, that i can see my uniform vibrating.In secondary school i will know that i'll see my usual friends but in the different classroom with different teacher, you do not know who they are you do not know what is going to happen, there is too much unknown, that kills me. The moment you step into school, the smell persist, the cricket went home, daylight secrectly approach. On top of the morning smell, in the school there will be this "new" smell. the smell of the table and chairs and assembly floor which no doubt have been neglected for a month or more. that adds up to the disgusting smell i am suffering from. first lesson is usually the toughest. everything if remembered would be so vivid. But as the sun rise at the real day approach, everything looks clearer smell normal and sound familiar. I just hate first day of school.

Just back in town after my 2weeks in Scandinavian countries. the places was cold but some were freezing as freeze as -30*C but nevertheless it was a fun and special trip. along the trip i pened down some thoughts in my head and cant wait to share it on my blog.

i was at rovaniemi and i went to a MacDonald which they called the nothernmost Mc. Although thats not really the point. As i observed those staff working in Mac and other jobs that we so called "lower positions" i spot some difference between them and those in my country. In my place the people that work these jobs are often applied by the elderlies or those who might be not so "perfect". however in northern EU i see people who is as normal as anyone else working in these roles. it came to me that the people take these jobs as jobs, jobs that is no different from any other just different in aspect. how innocently true is that! there's no jobs that is meant for a particular group of people. Jobs to them are just jobs. you have the right to work in a environment or position where u feel comfortable in and not being despise. Jobs should be open to everyone just like Scandi airline which amazed me with the stewardness on air. They are definitely older than my mum and they are of all sort of sizes round, tall, short you name it they have it. this indeed is a different phenomenon from our local airline with all the staff on plane all slender and covered with a mask of makeups. Mayb to them these is just a jobs that anyone who aspire to take upon is allowed to do so. But the problem here is that we have all been through compulsoy education that equiped us with a certain level of skills and no one is willing to take up those jobs that does not match their level of ability, so it is definitely to tell us people here to give all types of jobs a fair equal view.

"Life is increasingly stressful...". "The pace of our life is faster and faster.." Aren't these words familiar?Its really something so mundane to us that we may have grown immunity towards it. We know that its "harmful" isn't it, and since all the background information are sufficient and awareness is publicise, why are we not doing anything? Just yesterday there was this news report about parents worried about their childrens' nutrition amount intake due to difficulty in their food consumption. Then in the interview with a nutritionist, she talked about how our increasing stressful life of parents can result is such ramification. Nevertheless the point is that while everyone knowingly what the stressful lives can result in, why is nothing significant being done? Certainly to survive in this cutthroat competition World, there an obvious need to work much harder and smarter to earn yourself a living. However, with global increasing of mental health problems such as anxiety and sleeping disorder isn't it worth to slow the whole pace down for the benefit of mankinds' health? Is the every dollar you earn worth a minute of sleep lost? So let's hope that the next time when we hear how stressful modern lifes are, solutions are on its way to resolve.

No- Alternative energy might produce another set of problems which leads to further environmental pollution.

No- To solve environment problem requires individual, national efforts to promote and execute

Mother Earth is sick and this is of no doubt. From former US Vice-President Al Gores documentary film "An Inconvenient Truth", we saw the truth behind our fast growing, developing World. The increasing atmospheric carbon dioxide and the rising global temperature are all human-caused due to our multiplying consumption and production level which is at the expense of our environment. However, we did not grow with environment degradation ceteris paribus. With development our knowledge in science and technology escalate as well, and by relying on it, there is hope in solving our environmetal problems. Nevertheless, environmental problems requires much more efforts and initiatives to be solved.

We are able to rely on science and technology because from it we are able to invent alternative energy which is a solution for enviromental problems. Deforestation, globalwarming, air pollution are example of the problems our environmet faces and such ramification are largely human-caused. In the past due to focus on economic growth and living standard we have neglected the impact of our actions on Earth. Therefore only when people are economically stable and have a suitable living standard, we then realise the damage we have incurred on the environment. By using science and technology we can identifiy the causes of pollutions and rectify it using advanced technologies. Through science we are able to have a clearer picture of what damage are incurred and even statistical reports which brings wider acknowledgments from the public. After recognising the existing problems, we can then apply technology to investigate and invent neccessary tools to tackle against the problems. To reduce extraction of fossil fuels for energy which is one of the main environmental problem, inventors have use science and technology to introduce alternative energy such as solar energy and wind power which is deemed to be clean and renewable. Being the largest solar plants in the world, Solar Energy Generating System(SEGS) in Mojave Desert in America will be producing 553MW of solar thermal power when fully operational in 2011. With increasing operation of solar and other renewable energy plants around the World, our reliance of extraction of natural fossil fuels will decline over the years. Therefore, we will be able to mitigate the problems our environment is facing now.

However, science and technology might create further environment pollution in its effort to solve the problems. By considering alternative energy, we have assumed that such alternatives does not results in further problems. In fact, if solutions to the problems are not well planned and organised, the solutions can lead to further degradation of our environment. Nuclear power is a hot topic recently not only because it is a sustainable energy, but also the operation of producing nuclear power can lead to further damage. After production of power through nuclear reaction on uranium, the production will produce waste that emits radioactive substances that will affect human's health and causes cancer. Rated as the worse nuclear reactor accident, the Chernobyl disaster results in death and health problems of locals even until today. Although we can benefit from the derivation of nuclear power through science and technology, if the operation is not carried out in a organised and safe order, our environment could be at risk.

Nevertheless, organisations and policies are implented to ensure safety and sustainabilty is of concern. To ensure that countries with nuclear power plant protect the interest of the environment and the public's safety, the United Nations established the International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA) to ensure peaceful usage of nuclear energy and inhibit using it for military purpose.Around the world, individual countries have also nuclear energy policy to keep gaurd the operation of production and the nuclear fuel cycle. Such policies ensure proper disposal of the radioactive waste after the production of nuclear power. Hence, relying on science and technology can solve our environmetal problems since it is effective in reducing pollution and also risk of alternatives.

There was this article i read around one years ago that reported this Polish guy, he went into coma and was unconcious for 19years(its really miracle that he woke up). Before he went coma Poland was still a communist country but now he woke up in a democratic capitalist nation. Frankly speaking it must felt terrible and extremely difficult to adapt, its really like slping for 19years and you wake up knowing some of your relatives has passed away, seeing your parents looking so much older than you can recall, walking on a totally different road to the same home, its urbanisation i should say. Nevertheless, something i earned from this article was something he said, it roughly goes like this, "people now are always with a sulky face and with a cell phone always at their ears." This sounds like a rather truthful statement because how often can you exclude a person 19years from world and bring him back to observe the difference. Therefore this thought of modern people looking sadder, feeling more unhappy struck me. But why?aren't you richer than your grandmother's generation, aren't you healthier than 曹操？Is development taking place at the expense of our happiness? To a large extent i really does feel so. The competition we are put in are so tough, nevermind if we're forced or willing to to earn more. You have to compete more in terms of mentally. there are so many things in your mind compared to just 衣食住行(food clothes shelter transport) in the oldern days. You fear, fear of terrorist attack, fear of nuclear missile, fear of retrenchment, you fear everything. Your mind just keeps working because you just cannot stay at rest, and time after time as the mind gets wear out, you feel unhappy, stress, tired and in the worse case, go mad.How sad is it:(Is it possible to just lead a simple life that we just demand for our basic daily necessities?i doubt so, we're developed and aim to grow more, nobody will wants to demote in this competitive World.How often can we see fun and loving music videos like the above one now?We are surrounded by sex,drug,violence,melancholy genre of media, its just so negative!

fashion is a BIG word. What is fashionable, what to wear, how to wear at this era is seriously a different language as from the past. At this moment as long as the colours u wore, the length and size proportion is just right, no one should really criticise or make negative comment on it becasue as we grow and get educated, our acceptance level should by right have improve so should our view of whats in trend and what's not. but seriouosly the real skill of fashion is to understand your body, notice the clothes the fabric the materials around you, mix and match the colours and then wear it on your body to bring out the essence of the clothes and most importantly at the same time able to bring out the feeling that you try to show. I was chatting with the shopkeeper, and he said"...you can the pics on our facebook..".Im never a facebook user or friendsters for those elders, i don't know, it just doesnt attract me, some people just join to feel in trend but mayb im a weirdo. Mayb is the way i grew up, i volunteerily do not get hook up to games. when games like dota, CS was crazy all over the place, i didn't join in. Yesterday i was listening to the radio, and i heard a sentence, a sentence that appears almost every week in every channel regardless madarin or english. It will always be heard on every wednesday and the main point is to encourage everyone that it is already the mid week and the weekends will be around the corner so buck up and peservere for 2 more days.This made me thought about how miserable people are living on Earth, everyday to them seems just like torture, thats why they constantly need encouragment from others.I feel sad, because i do felt before how tough a life can get and what worse is you cannot decide whether or not you want to start this life of yours.Unwillingly or willingly u came to this world, where your fate(in this modern society) is almost decided for you until the day you die, you are just like a piece of wood added to the fire to keep the flame going all the way until you die. How much can you decide in your life?When it seems like you are given a choice in life(education or work etc) its actually narrowing your freedom, because you are bounded to the few that you can choose from out of the infinity. And in this big environment, the World, its economy is made so competitive that earning for a living is made so much tougher and so much stresser. You have no choice but to just follow the "guidelines" set by the leaders in your country, this is just the hard fact of a cycle that is happening on Earth(maybe somewhere far away from our solar system there might be something identical).I might sound pessismist to some, but to me, i'm just talking from another point of angle. Life is a forced given chance, therefore we should make the best out of it by having the rights(wow this is a big word!) to make our own decision, make our own choice and live it the way we want.

Meritocrazy VS Democracy

There's this passage i read yesterday about this issue of meritocracy against democracy which i feel strongly of sharing because it shows to a great extend the issue of elitism. Part of the lesson about this passage was on a question "The irony between meritocracy and democracy". Meritocracy is a system in which the talented, the ones who excel are rewarded in terms of wealth or status.(its crazy because it makes every study till they drop) On the other hand, democracy is a governance system where people are equal(e.g. in opportunities) and is linked with egalitarian. Therefore, is it possible to call a state that is both meritocratic and democratic without any contradiction?In my point of view, i guess its no, at least not demonstrating both ideology to the full extent.
Meritocracy is one of my country's stepping stone towards today's powerful development. However, meritocracy came along with some other debatable social issues. One of such would be elitism. Undeniably my country does exist elitism from our banding education system to WSM's incident. The main objective of meritocracy in my society is to discover the talented elites so as to provide them with additional opportunities to extend their knowledge with wider coverage of exposure in both academic and non-academic aspects. This is to prepare them as future leaders(political, economic, professionals) to drive this country because my society's only resources is human being. With such ideology, it shaped my country to be one which has strong focus on academic and placing alot of importance on the paper of degree. Often enough we are able to see how meritocracy is able to widen the gap of inequality in my country. As mentioned those identified elite talents will then continue in a route that will be only for the few percent in my country. They will carry on in top schools and institute and might also continue their studies abroad in top ranking universities in US or UK. After which these people will or may return to their homeland and either participate in politic or in business activity(either which they will still be in the same category such as the old boys' club).For these people, they'll will have the same hang-out place, similar restaurants they visit, same golf course they show their talent(especially the one along thomson road) etc. With such cluster, people of the same group will tends to meet people of the same category, marry the same kind, give birth and let the inequality gap widens. At the same time although the middle and low-income family's children still hold a chance of performing well and "promote" to the elite level, they are already in disadvantage in terms of not having the affluent to be able to attend extra lessons to excel their academic performances, learn musical instruments to improve their attribute and banded into the common academic group which further lower their opportunities to show their very own and individual talent. Worse still with the banding system, the lower bands group are more vulnerable to discrimination and those who cannot make it in life. Therefore, being a state known also as democratic, is this system really offers everyone a chance an opportunity?Or instead with its meritocracy system it has brought out elite that bring vast improvement to the country at the expense of other commoners?
So does meritocracy contradicts democracy?

Selfishness, cons, mistrust, betrayal have all manifest our human lifes. Apparently it is all these fucking human behaviour that made human being losing trust with one another.Would you ever dare to reveal your personal information to some hi-bye friends? you'll most probably not because you never know what they can do with those information. Sadly and truly, thats what everyone cityman thinks about. Are these human nature or effects of modern lifes?I guess i would go with effects on human lifes by the revolution of modern life because i use to listen to my grandmother talking about her life in the past. Definitely everyone was poor, at least most, but they seems to be bonded very strongly, maybe this is because of the small villages they live in and the lack of communication devices so as they only have the neighbours to chat with and thus building strong relationship and trust. In the past people might not have heard of a lock because either it has not been invented or they are too poor to afford or most likely they do not need one. People trust each other in the past certainly more than now. It may be the greed that has change human but nevertheless greed has also play a strong part in our economy and contributing to the higher income level that we are receving now. I think life is fair, when you are awarded with something, something would be taken. therefore, maybe because of the material benefits we are given, we have lose our values, our trust among one another which i think will never ever be able to bought by money or substituted with materials, its just a shame to human beings.

Few years ago when MJ was accused of child molest, papers all over the world report negatively on him causing a plunge of his image. Those cases were solved out of court and made him heavily in debt. From that case onwards, media and link paedophile with MJ and the whole World made joke out of it. Nevertheless, now when he's gone, newspaper are filled with article of his sad life where he live with loneliness, disguise friend and kinship jus for money and his miserable childhood, which explain his hunger for childhood experience once again. He not growing up being love could have been one reason for him being mistaken as paedophile because he does not know to love, not knowing how to expressing love. So what's the use now to show how good a man is when he is dead?The "victim" of the child molest case has recently came out to claim MJ's innocent, but is now of little use. Went to Jeric's again, waited as long for keith, he's getting more popular now i guess furthermore he jus came back from Japan. He lay his first touch on my hair after one and half hour upon reaching the salon. Mayb i can post picture next few days as i'll be heading for cruise! On the way to jogging with dad this morning, my dad said this thing about H1N1. He told me that some country is coming out with a vaccine for the virus and he told me its possible that they started the virus too(since the virus started somewhere near there) and i gave a thought about it. How false can he be?if there is no problems, how can people come out with solutions and sell them at high price?isn't this hwo the world works now?what is needed have been invented, what else will people need if there's so situation that requires new R&D? the hard fact of the world you and me are living now.Similarly, other than the virus that attacks your body, it will be of no surprise to you that the virus that attacks you comes from some anti-virus company. Honestly, who will have the luxury of time to create all these computer virus that he or she have no gain(except for those that steals your ID codes and passwords). since everything is about money, and the only party that cna gain form these virus is definitely left with the anti-virus company. We human creates commotion around us so as to rise demands for their goods and solve the problems. On the other hand, if not because of so, how can the economy keep growing?Nothing to really argue about isn't it?At the end of the day, there's not right or wrong decision.
